You Have An Inheritance

Saturday, October 5

Matthew 5:5 (NKJV)
“Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth.”
Devotion

How would you feel about inheriting land? Isn’t it amazing when a father leaves something for you? Well, our Father in Heaven promises that the “meek shall inherit the earth.” But what does it mean to be meek? Is it the same as weakness?
Meekness is strength under control. Like a bridle on a powerful stallion, we are called to humble ourselves before God and let Him lead the way. Our God knows best. He is faithful. He is able to take us from strength to strength and from glory to glory. In fact, He wants to train us to be mighty men and women of God. However, the key to our success in life is total submission to God. His power is made perfect in our weakness.
Our submission to God reveals His glory in our lives. People will see how God is moving in our lives when we surrender all to Him. When we are able to stand up after being crushed and broken; and to walk away from earthly things, that brings glory to God. We need to abandon the fear of people pleasing and being hostile towards others. Let us be peacemakers and dig a well for Jesus. Start over and surrender all to God. Heaven is our home. Jesus is our great reward!

Today’s Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,
Help us to keep sowing even when the seeds are not growing. Help us to keep loving and helping others, even when we have our own concerns too. Teach us to be available and be present, to give a helping hand to those in need. Enable us to keep planting in the lives of others even when we are moving to another place. Help us to invest in the Kingdom. Lord Jesus, I give You my life. I confess my sin to You. Lord God, give me open spaces and room to breathe. I will live for You all the days of my life. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Apply It Today

Obey God even when it doesn’t make sense. Plant seeds of kindness, goodness, and mercy, trust God with the details. Sow and celebrate others’ achievements, even when your own growth does not seem evident. In waiting, dig in and get involved, serve, help others, even if you are moving to a new place. Number your days and love God.
Isaac was surrounded by enemies and the famine was severe, and he did not have space; but, God gave him a good place. The worst is over and the best is yet to come. Dig a well for yourself and others, God will bless you where you are.
