You Cannot Outgive God

Sunday, November 24

Luke 6:38 (NKJV)
“Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”
Devotion
Many of us struggle as kings in our giving. We wonder how we can tithe or put money in offerings when we have so little. We look at our income next to our bills and say it is hopeless. There's no way it can be done. But nothing is impossible with God. In 1 Chronicles 29:14, it says, “All that we have comes from God.” We are just giving back to Him what He gave us. It wasn’t really ours in the first place.

In the NLT version of the same verse, it says the amount you give will determine the amount you get back. If you give a little, that’s what you’ll receive. If you, as a king, give more to the kingdom, you will get more back. It might be more money, a better job, a place to live, or simply improved relationships with friends, family, coworkers, or your supervisor. It could also mean more opportunities to serve Him and others.

How can we expect to complete our mission or purpose? We have to give our time, talents, energy, and money for the cause. Count the cost beforehand, as Jesus told us in Luke 14:28. Are you willing to give your all for the kingdom? Jesus gave everything for us, and we can do no less.

God loves a cheerful giver, and He will ensure we always have something to give. Even if it is a listening ear or a prayer, nothing is too insignificant with God. Nothing will go to waste; all will be used for the kingdom. We need to step out in faith.

As kings, we have an obligation and responsibility to further the kingdom: spread the gospel, disciple, give, and keep giving. How can we do anything less when Jesus gave His all for us? Give and watch what God will do!

Today’s Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,
It is because of You that I possess all that I have, be it time, talent, or resources. I apologize for the times I have solely focused on myself, and I ask Your forgiveness. I commit to You today to begin using a portion of each of those toward Your kingdom. Please give me wisdom in which ways I can serve Your kingdom. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
