‭‭2 Samuel 22:30‬ (NASB)
“For by You I can run at a troop of warriors; By my God I can leap over a wall.”
Devotion
David, a skilled harpist, established the Tabernacle and Temple music programs and wrote more of the book of Psalms than anyone else.

David faced many enemies throughout his life, yet he consistently found deliverance through the Lord, as celebrated in 2 Samuel 22:1. Reflecting on his experiences, David chose to write a song of praise, highlighting God's faithfulness and protection, rather than a lament over his struggles. Writing from this perspective was typical for David.

David's perspective invites us to reflect deeply on our own lives. Do I view my life through a 'God-lens', recognizing Him as the central figure in every narrative? When considering my past, do I focus more on the trials or on God's deliverance and faithfulness during those challenging times? And when I speak of God and His work in my life, is my language rich and vibrant, or does it sound uninspired and stale?

David’s approach isn't just a personal style but a profound spiritual practice, rooted in his role as God's anointed. While David was a great king and shepherd, we rejoice in the coming of one even greater—fulfilled in Christ (Acts 2:29–36).

Today’s Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,

I ask for eyes that see Your faithfulness in every season and a heart that is quick to praise rather than lament. Transform my language to be rich and vibrant, filled with testimonies of Your goodness and protection. Remind me daily of the greater King, Jesus Christ, who came to fulfill all that was promised and who reigns with power and love. Strengthen my faith, and let my life be a testament to Your unfailing love and grace. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Apply It Today
Instead of focusing on your trials, focus on these characteristics of God and be encouraged to face anything that comes your way; David says, “The LORD is my Rock, fortress, savior, protection, shield, power that saves, place of safety, refuge, lamp.”
