We Shall Prevail

Sunday, December 10

Matthew 16:18 (NLT)
“Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.”
Devotion
If we build, God has promised to protect and prosper us. There's nothing that the devil
and his demons can do to stop us. But if we go in our power we will fail. For we are more than conquerors through him (Romans 8:37).

Sometimes the battle is fierce and we might want to give up. But God is on our side and we can not fail. The rock Jesus talked about in our theme scripture today, is our faith in him. He is our foundation and he is the cornerstone. There is no power greater than him.

We were given an assignment to build people up who are lost or broken. As long as we hold on to God, we can walk in our calling and fulfill our assignment as builders.
We might be shaken and hurt in the process, but God promises to give us strength to go on and fight. Think of how Peter was afraid of being known as one of the 12 disciples. After Pentecost he became bold. He remembered what Jesus told him and he moved in the power of the Holy Spirit, on fire for Jesus.

Just like Peter, we too can become bold if we remember what He said.
Go out and build someone up in the Lord. Go out and bring others back from the dead. With God nothing is impossible!

Today’s Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for considering me a vessel You can use to reach others for the Kingdom. Sometimes, though, I feel unworthy. I often question whether You gave me a word for someone or if I conjured it up in my own mind. However, I have noticed that when I talk myself out of it, I tend to regret that decision and wish I would have ministered when I felt You leading me. Lord, as I study Your Word and spend intimate time with You each day, please help me to learn Your voice so that I have no doubt when You are prompting me to minister. As You are faithful to me, I want to be faithful to You. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Apply It Today
It can sometimes be intimidating to step out and share the gospel, especially if we aren’t used to hearing God’s voice often. Beginning today, and each day hereafter, spend some uninterrupted, intimate time with Your Heavenly Father. Go before Him with praise and adoration and bask in His glory. It’s in these moments that He whispers into your spirit and you will learn to hear His voice. He is waiting with outstretched arms.
