We Are One

1 Corinthians 12:12-13 NKJV
For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit.
Devotion
In our main text, the apostle Paul is using the analogy of the human body to explain the unity and diversity within the Christian community, which is referred to as the body of Christ. He compares the various parts of the human body to the different members or individuals within the church.
Paul emphasizes that although the body has many different parts, such as hands, feet, eyes, and ears, they all function together as one unified entity. Similarly, in the church, though there are diverse individuals with different gifts, backgrounds, and roles, they are all part of the body of Christ.
The unity within the body of Christ is said to be possible through the Holy Spirit. Paul mentions that all believers, regardless of their ethnic, social, or economic backgrounds (Jews or Greeks, slaves or free), have been baptized by the Spirit into one body. This means that when a person becomes a Christian, they are spiritually united with Christ and with other believers, forming a single body.
Today's Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for my church and my christian community. I thank you for the many gifted individuals who make up the body of Christ. Help me to be a unifying factor in my church. To do my part for your glory and to make the load lighter for my brothers and sisters in Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
