The Song Of Deliverance
Friday, March 29
Psalm 118:17 (KJV)
“I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.”
Devotion
In today’s verse rests an unchangeable declaration of Faith, “I know, I shall not die, but live, to declare the works of the Lord'' This is a verse that shares the triumph of deliverance, a strong reminder that we do not have to struggle alone with life’s uncertainties. Because if our faith is strong and we learn to be persistent in prayer and worship, in a moment, when you least expect that burden that you have been carrying for years will be lifted, that request you have been praying and believing for, will become reality. This is the God that we have believed in with all our hearts and is majestically portrayed in Psalm 118.
Psalm 118, illuminates the greatness of the God of Israel, affirming His everlasting faithfulness in times of trouble. The Psalmist portrayed the uncertainty of a nation in crisis, but confidently proclaimed that God would keep the nation of Israel safe from its enemies.
The Psalm, expresses gratitude for God’s deliverance and salvation, drawing inspiration from historical events. It is a beautiful testament to the Lord’s authenticity and love for His people.
Psalm 118, is a song of victory that has been sung for generations. Especially during the Passover Feast, commemorating Israel's deliverance from slavery in Egypt.
Historically this was a national event that displayed God’s everlasting mercy, and abundant grace for His children. Jesus, celebrated the Passover feast, singing Psalm 118 with his disciples. Jesus proclaimed with confidence the truth of God’s word. That death would not have a hold on him, declaring life and victory, just days before his own death on the cross of Calvary. He knew that he would live beyond death as the sacrificial Lamb of his generation and future generations to come.
