Let Your Life Be An Anthem Of Praise

Psalm 150:3-6 (TLB)
Praise with the trumpet and with lute and harp. Praise him with the drums and dancing. Praise him with stringed instruments and horns. Praise him with the cymbals, yes loud, clanging cymbals. Let everything alive give praises to the Lord! You praise him! Hallelujah!
Devotion

When we praise God, we should go all out! Don’t hold anything back. Like King David who danced before the Lord with all his might, we should give it everything we’ve got. David didn’t wear royal robes when he danced on Jerusalem’s streets before his Lord, he wore a linen ephod, a garment of a humble minister (II Samuel 6:14). God doesn’t care about appearances; he cares about the praise that’s coming from our heart, whether it’s playing musical instruments, shouting, singing, or dancing, and the noisier the better.
The psalmist’s call to worship encourages passionate, loud, energetic, and harmonious praise by using every means we can come up with to celebrate our God’s powerful acts and supreme greatness.
Psalms 150 is the capstone of the book of Psalms as a whole. With every breath we take, we should let our lives be an anthem of praise to God, for He is worthy of our proclamation of His incomparable sovereignty. And let’s not forget, we are surrounded by people every day who need to know the praiseworthy character of God. Your unsaved coworker, lost friend, and hopeless neighbor is waiting to hear there’s a God whose loyal love is worth shouting, singing, and dancing about.

All our praise here on earth is getting us ready for the amazing celebration we will witness in heaven when the multitudes sound like “the roar of rushing waters and loud peals of thunder, shouting Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns.” (Rev 19:6)

Today’s Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,
We offer our highest praise to You. How grateful we are, Lord, for Your Word. We pray our praises will forever be spontaneous from our hearts as we celebrate Your goodness and mercy that endures forever. We praise and give thanks to You for all Your blessings and benefits that You have given us, especially Father, for sending Your only begotten Son to save us, and through him we have abundant life. Lord, bless us as we go forth with praises upon our hearts and lips. We thank You that we are Your people, the sheep of Your pasture and that we, Lord, have been called to serve You. Guide us in the way You would have us go and what You want us to do as servants of the King. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Apply It Today

In addition to praise being a fitting response and offering to God, praise prepares our hearts for God to work in us (Psalm 50:3). We take a position of humility before our creator and Lord, from which He lifts us (James 4:10). Sing aloud to the Lord today – an anthem or a children’s song, with a recording, an instrument, or just your voice. Can you finish with “I Love you, Jesus” or at least “I thank you, Jesus”?
