The Hand Of The Lord
2 Kings 3:15-16 (NKJV)
“But now bring me a musician.” Then it happened, when the musician played, that the hand of the LORD came upon him. And he said, “Thus says the LORD: ‘Make this valley full of ditches.’”
Devotion
In 2 Kings, Elisha was moved by God after hearing musicians play. It says the hand of the Lord came upon him. If you read it in other versions, it says the power of God.
God spoke through Elisha to the king of Israel. If he had not listened to the music, he wouldn't have had an answer for their dilemma, and Israel would have lost the battle. Often, when we cannot think straight, we need a touch from God. We need to just worship and praise Him.
In Psalm 22:3, it says God inhabits the praise of His people. He's inside of us, and He loves to hear us praise Him. Only after we sing our hearts out to Him will we get a breakthrough. Praise will help you see your problems as molehills instead of mountains because our God is greater than any problem we have. Once you get your focus off your troubles and onto Jesus, you will be lifted.
Remember King Jehoshaphat and Israel when surrounded by their enemies. How he and all Israel worshiped the Lord before the battle. They even went out singing, and God defeated their enemies! Don't underestimate your praise or worship. It is a strong weapon against Satan. Using God's word in the form of a song stops Satan in his tracks. Praise can lift your spirits up and bring you closer to God. So go ahead and sing, clap your hands, and dance like King David did. God doesn't care how you look or sound. He just wants to hear your praise.
Today’s Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
I praise You that You are God, You are Holy, and You are pure. I confess that I often do not give You the thanks and the praise that You are due. I praise You that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. I praise You for sending Jesus and for sending Your Holy Spirit. I thank You for bringing me to Free Chapel Online. I praise You for the power and truth of Your Word. I thank You that Your word is available to me on so many apps and in affordable paper copies. I praise You for Your power to transform me through the blood of Jesus and the cleansing washing of Your Word. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen
Apply It Today
Find several songs of worship music, for example from your own collection, a YouTube playlist, or the praise portion of a Free Chapel service. Instead of singing along, pray through the time of worship. Pause and give the Holy Spirit a chance to communicate to you. Let the music soften your heart and open your ears to what the Lord would say to you.
