The Divine Union

Monday, June 17

‭‭Genesis 2:22-23‬ (NIV)
“Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.”
Devotion
In the beginning, God created man and saw that it was not good for him to be alone. So, from Adam's very essence, God fashioned Eve. This act was not just about creating a companion; it was about establishing a profound union, one that reflects the depth of God's love.

By taking a rib, not a part of the head to rule over or a part of the foot to be trampled upon, but a part from Adam's side, near his heart, God set the tone for a relationship of mutual respect, love, and companionship.
When Adam first saw Eve, his declaration, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh," was an acknowledgment of this profound connection. It was a recognition that she was an integral part of him, designed to be with him in a harmonious relationship.

In our lives today, the union of marriage remains a sacred institution blessed by God. It is a partnership where both individuals are called to love, support, and uplift each other. As we reflect on today’s passage, we are reminded to cherish and honor our spouses, seeing them as God’s gracious gift called to fulfill a divine purpose in their respective roles..

Today’s Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

I come to You with thanksgiving for the spouse with whom You have blessed me. I ask that You place Your abundant blessings and wisdom upon him/her and lead him/her to a closer relationship with You than he/she has ever dreamed possible. Mold him/her into the man/woman You desire him/her to become. Use me, Lord, as an instrument of blessing for my husband/wife. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Apply It Today

If you are married, write a note to your spouse today. Be sure to tell your special one just how much you love and appreciate him or her. Give some specifics about why your love is such a special union.

If you are single (of course married people can do this one too), write a note (on paper) to your Heavenly Father. Let Him know how much you love and adore Him. Write some specifics about why He is special to you.
