Steward Of God’s Kingdom
Thursday, August 22
Genesis 2:15 (NIV)
“The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.”
Devotion
Genesis 2:15 highlights God's original plan for humanity—to work and care for His creation. Today, as Christians, this calling extends to stewarding God’s kingdom by spreading the gospel and nurturing faith in those around us. Our role isn't just confined to preaching; it involves actively reaching out to the lost and hurting.
Jesus said, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few” (Matthew 9:37). We are called to labor in God’s fields, especially among those society often overlooks: those in nursing homes, terminally ill hospital wards, rehabilitation centers, prisons, prostitution, and drug addiction, as well as those trapped in fallen religions. The rise of atheism and non-religious beliefs, even in places like America, reflects our need to do more in fulfilling this divine mandate.
Just as Adam was tasked with caring for the garden, we are called to care for the spiritual and physical well-being of others. This includes leading them to Christ, teaching the Word, and offering prayers and love to those who desperately need it. The parable of the workers in the vineyard (Matthew 20:1-16) teaches us that all are valuable in God’s eyes, regardless of when they come to faith, and that we must work tirelessly to bring in the harvest.
Today’s Prayer

Help me to be faithful in spreading Your gospel and caring for the souls around me. Guide me to reach out to those in need, showing them Your love and truth. Strengthen my resolve to work diligently in Your kingdom, trusting in Your promises. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
