Ephesians 6:13-15 (NIV)
“Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace”
Devotion
Today’s passage calls us to put on the full armor of God to stand firm against evil. In yesterday’s message, Pastor Jentezen warns that Christianity is warfare, not a casual weekend activity.
- Buckle the belt of truth to live honestly before God and others.
- Wear the breastplate of righteousness to protect your heart through holy living.
- Fit your feet with the gospel of peace, ready to advance with boldness.
- Pastor also urges men to act like men, standing strong with grit (1 Corinthians 16:13).
In the message, Pastor Jentezen compares us to Spartan warriors who trained relentlessly from age seven, living only for battle and loyalty. As “Spiritual Spartans,” we must reject compromise and worldly distractions, polishing our armor through prayer, worship, and Scripture. Because God’s Word equips us, we can protect our families and pass an unshakable faith to the next generation.
Our challenge as believers is that, in every battle, we must equip ourselves daily to honor God in how we think, act, and talk—both privately and publicly—and more. We do this by repenting daily, taking up our cross, and following Jesus, our ultimate example.
Today's Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
I ask forgiveness for areas of compromise, disobedience, and selfishness that have weakened my character and hindered who You intend me to be. I want to be a person of integrity. I commit to picking up my cross daily and following You. By Your grace, I boldly make the turn toward Your righteousness. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
Apply It Today
True growth starts with being honest with yourself about where you are today. Locate the areas where you have been in compromise. Pick one area that, if changed, will have the greatest impact. Remember, repentance means to turn around and go in the other direction. It’s time to surrender this area to the Lord in prayer. Confess the compromise, and let Him show you the next step of obedience. Then take that step.
