Salvation is From The Jews
Friday, October 27
John 4:22 (NIV)
“You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews.”
Devotion
What does that mean, salvation is from the Jews. God promised Abraham that His plan of salvation, the way for people to be reconciled to God, would come through Abraham’s son Isaac. One of Isaac’s grandsons, Joseph was sold as a slave in Egypt, where he maintained faith and a good conscience through very difficult times. God honored Joseph and used him to save many lives. Abraham’s descendants prospered in Egypt but were later enslaved there for 400 years.
God raised up Moses as a deliverer. God revealed his name, YHWH, and promised to go with Moses. He put His name on this group of people and made them the Jewish nation.
God entrusted the Jews with His laws, history, words of wisdom, and words of the prophets, which they carefully preserved for generations as Scripture. These words included many prophecies of the Messiah, who would accomplish salvation.
Jesus, who is God in the flesh, God with us (Immanuel), is a Jew and a descendant of King David in terms of his human ancestors. His name, Yeshua in Hebrew, means “YHWH saves.” Jesus fulfilled the Messianic Prophecies and made the way for all people to be reconciled to God through his death on the cross to pay the debt for sin, and his resurrection from the dead with the power to raise us also. Salvation is from the Jews.
Today’s Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for blessing me through the Jewish people, the greatest of whom was Your only Son, Yeshua, who You provided as an atonement for my sins. You chose to bring him to this fallen world in the little town of Bethlehem in Your nation Israel, and I give You glory for including me in the salvation story. I know that all eyes are on Israel at this moment in time, many of whom are looking at them with wrong motives. So, Lord, I lift the nation of Israel and the Jewish people to You now and ask that You watch over and protect them. Give them Your wisdom and guidance as they maneuver through all with which they are faced. Be with them, Father, and place a shield of protection over them. In the name of Yeshua, my Savior, I pray. Amen.
Apply It Today
In Psalm 122, we are instructed to pray for the well-being of Jerusalem that there may be peace and security within her walls. In your prayer time today, lift Israel and the Jewish people to the Lord in prayer. Pray that the hostages are returned home safely and that the nation that gave us our Savior will be secure.
If you desire and have the means to give a tangible gift, you may give to help support the needs of Israel during this difficult time through;
