Run Your Race

Saturday, July 12

Hebrews 12:1-2 (NIV)
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Devotion

Dreams don’t ask where you come from.

Hard work always pays off. When you’re doing your best to reach a goal and putting all your faith into it, God will lead you right to the place where you were born to be. Don’t underestimate yourself by thinking you don’t belong there. No! That’s not what God says. He hasn’t spoken His final word yet.

Sometimes, in order to succeed, you have to move from one place to another. You may have to leave a relationship or a job. So don’t complain when these things happen in your life, this may be the will of God. He knows exactly what He’s doing.

The people of Israel had to walk through the desert after crossing the Red Sea in order to reach Canaan. The journey wasn’t easy, and yours won’t be either. The road will be filled with highs and lows. You may feel discouraged, that’s normal; you’re human. But the sons and daughters of God are not allowed to give up until God clearly says, “This is not your destiny.”.

Today's Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the race You have marked out for my life. Help me throw off everything that hinders me, old mindsets, distractions, and sin that entangles. Strengthen my heart to run with endurance, even when the path feels long and difficult. Teach me to fix my eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of my faith. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Apply It Today

Identify one thing, a habit, distraction, or negative thought, that is hindering your race right now. This week, take an intentional step to “throw it off.” Replace it with a practical habit that keeps your eyes fixed on Jesus, whether it’s spending more time in prayer, declaring His promises over your dream, or seeking wise counsel for your next move. Keep pressing forward.
