Recognizing And Responding To Truth
Monday, November 18
John 18:37 (NIV)
“You are a king, then!” said Pilate. Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”
Devotion
Pilate stood before Jesus, the embodiment of truth, yet chose to ignore what he knew to be right. Jesus declared that His purpose was to testify to the truth and that those who belong to the truth listen to His voice. While Pilate recognized Jesus’ innocence, he allowed fear and public pressure to dictate his actions, ultimately rejecting the truth.
This reminds us that recognizing truth is not enough; it requires a response. Like Pilate, we may face moments when standing for truth feels costly or inconvenient.
Jesus calls us to align our lives with his kingdom, built on truth, no matter the opposition. May we not only hear his voice but boldly live according to his Word, testifying to his truth in all we do.
Are there areas in your life where you recognize God’s truth but resist acting on it? Are you listening to Jesus’ voice and aligning your life with His Word? Truth is not meant to be ignored or diluted. It is meant to transform.
Today’s Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for being the embodiment of truth. Help me to discern Your voice amidst the noise of the world. Give me the courage to respond to Your truth with faith and boldness, even when it is inconvenient or costly. Align my heart with Your kingdom and empower me to testify to Your truth in my words, actions, and decisions. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
Apply It Today
Take time today to reflect on an area of your life where you may be tempted to compromise on God’s truth. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you in making a decision that aligns with His Word, even if it requires sacrifice.
