Overflowing Grace

 John 4:39 ESV
Many Samaritans from that town believed in Him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me all that I ever did.”
Devotion
When Jesus saw the woman at the well, He didn't treat her like everyone else did. She was astounded that He was even speaking to her because she was a Samaritan. At that time, Jews had no dealings with Samaritans. Instead, He asked her to give Him a drink of water, but what He gave her was life-altering.

He bestowed upon her grace that overflowed. He knew everything she had done, every mistake she had ever made. He knew her intimately without ever meeting her. The grace He bestowed upon her allowed her to be free from the shame and guilt she carried around daily. She had so much grace that it overflowed. She immediately ran back into town and told everyone she could find about the Messiah. He was not something she wanted to keep to herself.

When was the last time you told someone about your grace, your Jesus? When was the last time your grace overflowed so much that you couldn't contain it anymore, and you just had to share? When was the last time you got so filled up by the Word of God that you were overflowing? This week, let's focus on the fact that our Savior knows us intimately, and let's share the good news of what He came and did for us. May our lives be a testimony to the grace that was bestowed upon us.

Today’s Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
I thank You for convicting me of my sin, knowing everything I ever did, and extending forgiveness to me in the precious blood of Jesus. Help me to be as bold in my testimony as the Samaritan woman. I confess that I've often been reluctant or afraid. Clothe me in Your spiritual armor and put Your word in my mouth without hesitation since I know the time is short. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Apply It Today
Not feeling overflowing? Spend a few minutes writing down as many specific ways as you can think of that God has shown His goodness and grace to you. Carry that gratitude in your heart and be ready when you come across someone to whom you can be the face of grace.
