Our Faithful Promiser

Friday, June 14

Hebrews 10:23 (ESV)
“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.”
Devotion
When we face a trial, it can be easy to begin to feel discouraged and look at everything that doesn’t seem to be going as we planned. But we must remember we have been given promises by God, and He is faithful to keep His promises. Maybe you’ve had people make promises and they were easily broken, that’s not the way God works.

A promise is only as good as its promiser, and our promiser is a good promiser. He does what He says He will do! As we focus more and more on the problem, we can lose sight of the promise. If we get too caught up in what we see, we can forget what God says. Instead, we need to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, search the Bible for the promises of God, and keep them in our hearts and on our lips.

We must remind ourselves of the promises God has given us and remain steadfast in our faith and hope because “He who promised is faithful.”

Today’s Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You that I have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus. Help me to hold unswervingly to the hope I profess. Help me to be faithful in attending assemblies of Your saints so that I may be spurred on to love and good deeds, and that I may in turn, spur others on as well. Shine Your light into our hearts and show us how to better love and serve each other in holding unswervingly to the hope we profess. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Apply It Today

Discouragement and doubt may rob us of faith and joy by challenging God’s instructions or promises. Do you have a lack of peace? Are you a child of God? With prayer, petition, and thanksgiving, ask God to restore your peace. And continue to be faithful to your part in participating in God’s promise.
