My Source Of Wonder

Psalm 121:1-2 (NIV)
“I lift up my eyes to the mountains where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”
Devotion
In life, challenges can seem overwhelming—sometimes as vast as the hills or mountains that tower over us. When faced with such difficulties, we are often tempted to look around for help in all the wrong places, people, resources, or even our own strength. But Psalm 121 offers a different perspective. It calls us to look not to the temporary solutions of the world but to the everlasting Source of help, God, the Maker of heaven and earth.
The psalmist starts by asking a profound question: "Where does my help come from?" It’s a reflective pause that acknowledges our need for something greater than ourselves. The answer comes immediately: "My help comes from the Lord." This is a declaration of trust and faith, a confident assurance that the One who created the universe is more than capable of delivering us from any trial we face.
God not only delivers those who look to Him, but He delights in being our Helper. When we lift our eyes to Him, we invite His power and presence into our situation. He responds to those who call on His name with a heart full of trust, knowing that He alone can provide the strength, guidance, and protection we need. Our part is to take that first step of faith, to lift our eyes and trust in His unfailing help.
Are you in need of deliverance today? Perhaps you're facing a difficult decision, a health challenge, or financial stress. Whatever the mountain before you may be, the key is to look up and trust the One who is greater than the obstacle. The Lord, the Creator of all things, is ready and willing to come to your aid. He will not fail you.
Today’s Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
I come before You now in praise and adoration for all the times You have heard my heart’s cries. You have been faithful to me throughout my life. Even when I asked amiss, You were always there with the answer I needed, even though I couldn’t see it at the time. And I can’t even fathom the number of times You stepped in and protected my family and I when we didn’t even realize there was danger lurking. Thank You for Your faithfulness to us. Help us, Lord, to be as faithful to You. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
