If My People

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV)
“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
Devotion
In one of the most critical junctures in the history of our country and future days of the Church, God has made a clarion call to His people. It is time. What happens with this country will greatly impact the rest of the world - to plummet quickly into darkness or to thrive in the light of Christ. It’s the Church in our great nation that will either push away wickedness or sadly give in to it.
The ease of being influenced by ungodly ideologies in today’s world is evident. Slowly compromise creeps into our lives, until we are no longer distinguishable from the world’s values, behavior and speech. Jesus taught us to be a lamp set on a lampstand, to let our light so shine before men, that they may see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:14,16) In humility and obedience, our decision making should be fashioned after the Word of God to direct our footsteps and shine a light onto our paths. (Psalm 119:105)
It's time to take inventory, for no one can serve two masters. We will either hate the one or love the other, or else be loyal to one and despise the other. We cannot serve God and mammon. (Matthew 6:22-24) The Word of God must govern our words and our actions.
The prophet Joel proclaimed to God’s people before the coming of the great and terrible day of the Lord, “Turn to Me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning! So rend your heart, and not your garments; return to the Lord your God, for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness; and He relents for doing harm.” (Joel 2:12-13)
Look at what happens after God’s people repent and return to Him:
“Now, My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place. For now I have chosen and sanctified this house, that My name may be there forever; and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually.” (2 Chronicles 7:15)
Today, if you can hear His voice, harden not your hearts. For in returning to Him and rest, we shall be saved.
Today’s Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in humility, acknowledging our need for Your grace and mercy. We ask for forgiveness where we have strayed from Your ways and allowed compromise to creep into our lives. Lord, give us the courage to turn away from anything that separates us from You. Help us to seek Your face earnestly, to align our hearts with Your Word, and to be the light in a dark world. In the Name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
