Hold Fast To Your Crown

Sunday, October 20

Revelation 3:11 (NKJV)
“Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown."
Devotion

In a world that often challenges our faith, it's easy to feel overwhelmed and disheartened. The pressures of life, the constant temptations, and the increasing hostility toward godly values can make us question whether it's worth continuing to live wholeheartedly for God. But in Revelation 3:11, Jesus encourages us to hold fast, to cling to what we have in him.

What do we have? We have a relationship with the living God, the assurance of eternal life, the indwelling Holy Spirit, and the crown of victory He promises to those who remain faithful. This crown isn't just for the finish line; it’s a sign of God’s approval over the lives we live for Him daily.

Jesus' call to hold fast reminds us that the reward for our steadfastness isn't just in some distant future, it's in the very journey of faith we walk each day. When we choose to live for God, even when the world offers easier or more appealing alternatives, we are living as ambassadors of His Kingdom. Our perseverance shines as a beacon of hope to those around us, showing them that Christ is worth every sacrifice.

Yes, the days are hard. Yes, the world grows darker. But let us not allow the challenges to strip away the crown God has given us, the crown of life and faith. Jesus is coming soon, and the crown he gives is a lasting, eternal one. No temporary trial is worth forfeiting that.

Today’s Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,
I thank You for what I have in Jesus. Show me where my deeds may be incomplete in the sight of my God. Show me how to have more in Jesus – more love, more power, more zeal, more holiness. Show me how to multiply the loaves and fishes and how to yield a crop 30, 60, 100 times what was sown. And once I have multiplied what You have given me, help me hold fast to what I have until Jesus comes. Help me keep my crown, but not as one escaping from the flames, but as one who has produced abundant fruit on earth, storing up treasure in heaven. In the Name of Jesus, I Pray. Amen.

Apply It Today

You may face a situation this week that will tempt you to let go of what you have – that is, God’s wisdom for how you should respond – and act based on your emotions, or out of fear regarding the outcome. Perhaps you already know what that challenging situation will be. Today, bring it to God in prayer, and decide ahead of time that you will not let go of what you have in Jesus but will respond in a way that is pleasing to God, trusting Him with the outcome.
