He Will Complete The Work
Thursday, October 8
Philippians 1:6 (NIV)
“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
Devotion
The Christian journey includes seasons of struggle with sin, addictions, sickness, disease, rejection, disappointment, and many pressures that can make life difficult. Paul gives us a powerful assurance: The One who began the good work in us will continue it until the day of Christ Jesus.
God's work in us is progressive. As we walk with Him, His presence and anointing can become increasingly evident in our lives. It may begin at what feels like ankle level, then rise to the knees, waist, and eventually become something that fully surrounds and influences our lives. This picture reminds us of a life becoming increasingly surrendered to God.
The goal is not simply to experience God's power but to become fully yielded to Him. As He works in our character, decisions, desires, and daily walk, we become more available for His purpose. Even through difficult seasons, God continues shaping us.
We, therefore, have every reason to keep pressing forward. The struggles of today are not the end of the story. Christ is still working, and He will faithfully carry His work in us toward completion.
Today's Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for beginning a good work in me and for being faithful to continue it. Help me trust You in every season, especially when I cannot see the progress. Shape my character, desires, and decisions, and teach me to surrender more fully to You each day. I trust You will complete the work You started in me. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
