Guard Your Gates

Judges 16:3 NKJV "And Samson lay low till midnight; then he arose at midnight, took hold of the doors of the gate of the city and the two gateposts, pulled them up, bar and all, put them on his shoulders, and carried them to the top of the hill that faces Hebron."

Devotion
The story of Samson serves as a cautionary tale, reminding us of the dangers of compromise in our walk with God. In Judges 16:3, we find Samson seeking an inappropriate relationship with a Philistine woman from the valley of Sorek. The Philistines were the enemies of Israel, and this alliance was strictly forbidden by God's law.

Samson's decision to pursue a relationship with a woman from an enemy camp illustrates how easily compromise can sneak into our lives. Sometimes, we may be tempted to befriend people who lead us away from God's purpose or indulge in activities that contradict our beliefs. The allure of compromise can be strong, promising short-term pleasures but leading to long-term consequences.

As followers of Christ, we are called to live lives of holiness and unwavering commitment to God's Word. Judges 16:3 reminds us of the dangers of compromise and its potential consequences. Let us guard our hearts and minds against the allure of compromise and seek to maintain a firm stand on God's principles.
