God’s Strength Is Made Perfect In Weakness

2 Corinthians 12:8-9 (NKJV)

'Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.'

Devotion

Have you ever felt so weak and helpless that you are unable to see beyond today? Have you ever been in such a difficult situation that you know only God can help you? We all have been there: unpaid bills, unfulfilled dreams, hopeless situations where you have nowhere else to go but on your knees.

It is in these seemingly hopeless and desperate situations that we need God the most. And when we turn to Him and acknowledge that He alone is able to turn things around, we experience a miracle! Your situation may not change immediately, but when we come to the foot of the cross and acknowledge we can do nothing without God, we are changed from the inside out.

We realize that it is by God’s grace alone that we will be able to make it through the storm. It is by His all-sufficient grace that the people we have been praying for will have a turnaround in their lives, and bad relationships are broken, setting them free from a life of sin. It is by God’s grace and love that you are now able to love yourself enough to walk away from a terrible situation and believe that, “God will provide for all your needs, according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

The Lord is good, and He is able to help you through an addiction, a gambling debt, or an abusive situation, taking you from a horrible present to a hopeful future. God is able to take you from strength to strength and from glory to glory.

What are your seemingly impossible situations right now? Surrender them all to God, who is able to turn your weakness into strength by His power and grace alone.

Today's Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

I surrender all to You, Lord. I have all the reasons to quit and give up all hope, but You are a covenant-keeping God who keeps His promises to a thousand generations of those who love and obey You. I give You full control—have Your way in me, Lord. I give You everything—my hopes, my dreams, my pains, my shame, my guilt, and my desperate situation. I trust You completely. I know You are able to turn things around. Your all-sufficient grace has never failed me. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
