Go Another Way

“Then, being divinely warned in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed for their own country another way.”
Devotion
It may seem that your dreams or plans aren't coming to pass at all. You may be stuck in a dirty stable where nothing is going right. Yet, that is exactly where God wants you to be. He leads us up into the mountaintop and then brings us down into the valleys or stables to prepare us for what He has in mind.
Don't give up or quit when God is trying to refine and purify you. We will never know our strength and how good God is without the valley experiences. It is when you are in the fox hole of life that He comes beside us. He is your strength in time of weakness. Do not go back defeated and discouraged. God will show you the way and He will open doors no man can shut.
Your part is to wait in obedience and to trust Him. So go another way and you will see He is faithful and true. He never gives up on you, so don't give up on Him.
Today’s Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
I thank You for the blessings, trials, and challenges of 2023. I thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit to lead me and guide me. I thank You for the opportunities I have to grow as I look back on the past year and I pray to be sensitive to Your Holy Spirit in the coming year. Show me where I need to stay the course and where I need to move in a different direction. Speak to me through Scripture, through songs, through the preaching of Your Word, and through circumstance. Help me respond in a manner pleasing to You. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen
Apply It Today
Are you in an unexpected place of difficulty, sickness, delay in seeing God’s promise fulfilled, or other challenges? Be careful not to return to old sins or habits for comfort. Instead, be honest with God about the struggle, ask God to show you the path to follow, invite Him to accomplish His purpose in you through the difficulty, and ask for grace and peace while you cooperate with His plan.
