Give And Give Some More

Wednesday, November 22

Luke 6:38 (NKJV)
“Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”
Devotion
Our theme text today often features in “tithe and Offering” messages. Which is perfectly appropriate. However, Jesus was not just talking about money. What if we do not have money to give? Perhaps, we may supply goods, services, or volunteer our time offering our talents and giftings, that God has already given us.

God will never put currency signs on what we give. Because no giving is too small and no giving is too large in God’s eyes. He never looks at the gift. God always looks at the intent of our heart first, before it ever becomes a thought.

The Bible says, “God loves a cheerful giver,” (2 Corinthians 9:6-8). Before we may ever be a giver at all, we will need to have the heart to give which results in the willingness to give. We will not consider the “what if’s”, because we want to give. This will be the measure you use; the intensity level of your heart to share/offer.

In proverbs 3:27-28 we are told, “Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it’s in your power to help them. If you can help your neighbor now, don’t say, “Come back tomorrow, and then I’ll help you.”

Oftentimes when we give, no one will know this except you and God. However, God returns in His measure. So do not relent in giving out of the abundance of what you have be it time, money or talent.

Today’s Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
You truly are a loving and giving Father. Everything You have given to me, You have given with joy out of Your heart’s pure love for me. Lord, I want to give like You give. Show me open doors where I can give of my time, my talents, and my resources to be an answer to someone’s prayer or to help support my church through all the outreaches we do, to show love and offer hope to those around us and in the world. I will joyously give as You lead me. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Apply It Today
As you read the prayer above, did you mean it with your heart? Did someone or a certain ministry area where you could contribute in some way come to mind? Make a commitment to give of your time, talents, and resources where there is need. Step up and be that person who helps and gives with a joyful heart. You never know, you might just be stepping into the door of your destiny.
