Forget Not His Benefits

Psalm 103:1-6 (NKJV)
“A Psalm of David. Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. The LORD executes righteousness And justice for all who are oppressed.”
Devotion
“… and all that is within me, bless His holy name!” (Psalm 103:1). We must bless God with our whole being, not just part-time, but at all times, even when we don't feel like it. Like the priests carrying the Ark into the Jordan, if we're not all in, nothing changes. But when we fully commit, God parts the waters.
Forget not all His benefits (v.2). God forgives all our sins and heals our soul sicknesses (v.3). King David knew this well. When our soul prospers, so does our health (3 John 2). Yet the psalmist asks, "Why are you cast down, O my soul?" (Psalm 42:11). We must remind our troubled souls of God's goodness, that He blots out our transgressions, and that He remembers our sins no more, because we follow Jesus!
He crowns us with lovingkindness and tender mercies (v.4). Just as King David showed undeserved grace to Mephibosheth in 2 Samuel 9, God lavishes kindness on us, especially in times when pain wasn't our fault. Abuse, betrayal, injustice - God's mercy is our remedy for soul wounds.
But beware the enemy's trick - to settle for substitutes that can never satisfy like God can. Materialism, status, or fleeting pleasures will always leave us empty. Only blessing the Lord with our whole being leads to true soul satisfaction.
Let us commit to bless God fully, forget not His benefits, and find our solace in His unfailing love and kindness. For He is our soul's healer, defender, and the only true satisfaction.
Today’s Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
I bless You Lord, with my soul and all that is within me, I bless Your holy name! I will not forget all Your benefits, the One who forgives my iniquities and heals all my diseases. I worship You, the One who redeems my life from destruction and crowns me with lovingkindness and tender mercies. I praise You Who satisfies my mouth with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagles’ because of Your faithfulness. I praise You for Your goodness and mercy to me each day of my life. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
