Faith’s Armor
Tuesday, November 11
Ephesians 6:16-18 (CEB)
“Above all carry the shield of faith so that you can extinguish the flaming arrows of the
evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is God’s word.
Offer prayers and petitions in the Spirit all the time. Stay alert by hanging in there and
praying for all believers.”
Devotion
Have you ever felt constant arrows being thrown at you one by one? It may be an arrow of fear, anxiety, temptation, or doubt. Maybe you’ve felt arrows coming at you all at once. But the arrows that come your way that are sharp and painful cannot touch you when you are guarded by the shield—not just any shield, but the shield of faith. When you stand firm and trust God’s power, goodness, and truth, your shield will protect you from pain.
God didn’t leave us unprotected with no shield; He has given us faith to shield, salvation to secure us, His Word to guide us, and prayer to strengthen us. So, the next time you see an arrow coming your way and the enemy whispers lies in your mind telling you that you aren't enough, lift up your shield of faith. When worry begins to fill your mind, put on your helmet of salvation and remember who you belong to. When the enemy attacks, speak God’s Word—it’s your sword. Always pray; that is how your armor stays strong.
The battle that you might face isn’t going to disappear when you have the armor, but you won’t ever be fighting it alone. You will stand fully armed in God’s strength.
Today's Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
I thank You for Your armor—the armor of God that You have given me—and that through Your Word, the truth, I can stand firm with the shield of faith against all the lies and attacks of the enemy. By Your Holy Spirit, please lead me into all the truth of God’s Word, that I may stand in Your promises for my life and for those I am interceding for. Stir up the hunger in me once again to feed on Your Word, for it is the very bread of life that sustains me. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
Apply It Today
Fill your arsenal with the Word of God. The more you know God’s promises and understand the covenant Jesus paid so dearly to obtain for you, the better you will be at fighting off the attacks of the enemy. The devil’s main methods of attack are lies and deception, but the entrance of God’s Word brings light. You can declare God’s Word with boldness and a heart full of faith, and the enemy must flee. God’s Word holds true—it is impossible for Him to lie. He is faithful to His Word, and He will deliver.
