Even If The Earth Moves

Sunday, June 15

Psalm 46:1-3 (NIV)
“or the director of music. Of the Sons of Korah. According to alamoth. A song. God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.”
Devotion

The Sons of Korah witnessed the earth swallow their rebellious relatives, a sobering reminder of God's power and judgment. Nothing is hidden from Him; He sees and knows all. Their rebellion was rooted in discontentment with the roles God had assigned. But God made it clear: He does not tolerate complaining or striving for positions He has not given.

We are in danger when we desire assignments meant for others. Instead, we are called to be faithful where He has placed us. As Pastor Jentezen Franklin says, “Just do what you can do, and be glad to do it for Him.” Colossians 3:23 reminds us to serve wholeheartedly as unto the Lord, not for human recognition.

Our reward is in heaven, not in applause. Like the Pharisees, it’s possible to seek attention while being far from God. But He values humility and obedience over visibility. When we truly love Him, we will serve with joy, even in unseen places.

Let us not try to take someone else’s place, but wait on God. Surround yourself with friends who point you to Christ. We are living examples for future generations. What legacy are you leaving? Choose to serve with joy and faithfulness. Every role in the body of Christ matters, and none of us is unnecessary.

Today's Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for being my refuge and strength, even when everything around me feels unstable. Forgive me for the times I’ve compared myself to others or longed for positions You haven’t given me. Teach me to find contentment and purpose in the place You’ve assigned to me. Help me serve with joy, humility, and faithfulness—whether seen or unseen. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Apply It Today

Examine your heart for any areas of comparison or discontentment. Ask God to renew your joy in the assignment He’s given you. Then, intentionally serve someone in a quiet, behind-the-scenes way, without seeking recognition, knowing that God sees and rewards faithful obedience.
