Don't Change The Message!

Wednesday, November 13

2 Kings 9:22 (NIV)
“When Joram saw Jehu he asked, “Have you come in peace, Jehu?” “How can there be peace,” Jehu replied, “as long as all the idolatry and witchcraft of your mother Jezebel abound?”
Devotion

Pastor Franklin spoke a decree in the sermon. God's ultimate goal for every person is to become one with Him through Christ Jesus…to reunite with God in Spirit…to restore our broken relationship with Him due to sin.

Time is of the utmost importance. This is not a time to be laid back – to get comfortable. We are in a spiritual war, and we cannot compromise. The truth - all of it – must be preached when we have opportunity. However, we must have a target to aim for. We must have a clear and narrow path.

Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”

Don’t change the message! The closer Jehu got to the city – to the heart of the deceptive spirit of Jezebel, the more he heard to compromise. We too hear voices of  compromise, but we must preach the whole counsel. Rise up and don’t change the message.

Today’s Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,
I don't want to think like Job's friends who falsely attributed every trouble to some sin. At the same time, give me wisdom to see how and why You use circumstances to discipline and chastise and change me. Since Your word says that You discipline those You love, I invite Your discipline, especially in the areas of any remaining idolatry, witchcraft, or sexual immorality in my life. I want to be pure and free from these things. And I would rather Your hand of discipline and clarity in showing me how to repent, than Your sword of judgment from someone like Jehu. I want to be at peace, and today's word makes it clear that freedom from idolatry and witchcraft is essential for peace. And once I am free, help me not to compromise the message of purity. In the Name of Jesus, I Pray. Amen.

Apply It Today

A practical application of today’s study is that idolatry and witchcraft steal your peace (in addition to separating you from God). If you are a follower of Jesus, clean house today from any personal possessions associated with idolatry or witchcraft. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you what items are a problem. And may the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guard your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7)
