Big Giants, Bigger Vision

Numbers 13:23-25 (‬NIV)

“When they reached the Valley of Eshkol, they cut off a branch bearing a single cluster of grapes. Two of them carried it on a pole between them, along with some pomegranates and figs. That place was called the Valley of Eshkol because of the cluster of grapes the Israelites cut off there. At the end of forty days they returned from exploring the land.”

Devotion

Numbers 13 narrates the story of twelve spies sent by Moses to scout Canaan. Through Moses, God reminded the Israelites that the promised land was abundant and fertile and within their grasp! Then the spies were sent out to explore the land that He was giving them.

In Sunday’s message, Pastor Jentezen challenged us that there are two types of mindsets when entering the Promised Land that God gives us, grape-tasters and grasshoppers (as illustrated in Numbers 13:33).

The original objective of scouting the land was to strengthen the Israelites' faith in God's promise, a goal that, unfortunately, most of the spies failed to achieve. The spies confirmed that the land truly was as bountiful as flowing with milk and honey (Numbers 13:27). However, the majority of them expressed that the challenges encountered were insurmountable.

Reflect on the land of dreams God has promised you. Are you facing giants that seem insurmountable? Remember, the size of your giants is a reflection of the size of your vision. God invites us to be grape-tasters, to envision our victories, and to trust in His guidance and strength to overcome the obstacles in our path.

Remember that God is the one who gives you the courage to face your giants, the faith to taste your grapes, and the vision to see beyond your challenges into the promised land! Choose a bigger vision today!

Today’s Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,
I thank You for Your promise of entering a promised land in Jesus. I confess my tendency to see myself as a grasshopper when I should be a grape taster. Open my eyes and ears to Your promises and blessings and the path to realizing them in Jesus. Show me how to pray with faith. Show me how to overcome sins and obstacles. Give me the victory in Jesus as you enlarge my territory. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Apply It Today

Pastor Jentezen and his guests related that the Jewish National Fund purchased land in Israel before the nation was re-established in 1948. In 1943, settlers were moved in to learn agronomy in the desert. What preparation is needed toward the vision God has given you? Is it becoming debt-free? Finishing education or training? Firming up a faithful prayer life? Achieving permanent victory and deliverance from a specific sin? Take a step today in obedience toward that preparation and be faithful to complete it so that you are ready to step into God’s vision for you.
