Be Ready When He Comes
Sunday, October 8
Matthew 24:44 (NLT)
You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.
Devotion
We can no longer claim that we have time to spare. Time is rapidly running out. Indicators are aligning just as prophesied in the Bible. Jesus could return at any moment. What will he find us doing? Will we be engaged in the work he assigned to us, or will we act as if it's not happening?
Many people do not know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. They continue with the assumption that life will persist indefinitely. They must discover the truth: the sole path to heaven is through Jesus Christ, and they need guidance on how to be saved. Let's go forth, spread the word, and live our lives for him before it's too late.
Will you be ready when he comes?
Today’s Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
I thank You for the promise that Jesus will return. I thank You for his virgin birth, sinless life, bleeding for my healing and my salvation, and dying for my sins. I thank You that Jesus ascended into heaven to rule at Your right hand and send the Holy Spirit. By Your Holy Spirit, help me to stay awake and ready for Jesus' return. Help me to be awake with my lamp burning and plenty of oil. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen
Apply It Today
What is one thing you can do to be prepared? Have you thought, or even said aloud, “I really should (fill in the blank)” with regard to your spiritual life? Is it praying regularly? Reading the Bible? Keeping a journal? Worship with music? Now is the time!
Set aside a small amount of time today to get started on that thing the Holy Spirit is showing you, and be faithful to continue.
