Are You Ready To Meet Jesus In 2025?
Sunday, December 29
Revelation 22:7 (NIV)
“Look, I am coming soon! Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy written in this scroll.”
Devotion
If you are keeping the words of Jesus revealed in Revelation, then you will be blessed and are ready to meet Jesus should he return or you pass on this coming year. But if you are not keeping the words written in Revelation, then you are not ready to meet Jesus and you will miss the blessing. Have you ever read Revelation with a heart and mind regarding what Jesus wants you to do differently rather than with an end times focus?
The purpose of Scripture is not primarily to inform our minds to know exactly what will happen. The purpose of Scripture is to transform our hearts and character to be right before God, and therefore to be prepared to meet Jesus by doing the things he likes and avoiding the things he hates. This is more important than having all the details correct in our eschatology.
When you read Revelation, take note of the things Jesus likes. These are the things he commends or tells people to keep doing. Also, when you read Revelation, take note of the things Jesus hates. These are the things Jesus rebukes, corrects, or announces judgment about. What do you need to change in your life to stop doing things Jesus hates and make sure you are doing things he likes?
Today’s Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the Book of Revelation and that You promise Your blessings for those who keep the words of this prophecy. I confess I have focused more on what will happen in the end times rather than how my behavior and character needs to change to be ready for it. Open my eyes to how my deeds may be incomplete in the sight of God and how my true spiritual condition, heart attitude, and behavior needs to change to be ready to meet Jesus. In the Name of Jesus, I Pray. Amen.
Apply It Today
Consider reading the whole book of Revelation sometime in 2025. But for today, read Revelation chapters 2, 3, and 21. Write down a list of things Jesus likes and a list of things Jesus does not like. Cry out to Jesus to help you change as needed so you will be blessed when you meet him.
